Sports- not only fun but life skills, Sports is a good addiction!

Due to lack of sport culture in India it was a myth among the parents that If the child is not good in academics put him in some sort of sport which will make his life. But now when I see todays parents, they are willing to put their child in a sport irrespective of their academic performance. Also in last few years I have seen a drastic improvement and dedication of the government to build a sport culture in India which has resulted in making many International Champions who stand head to head with other nations and make India a proud nation by ranking 1st in many sports such as Shooting, Boxing , Badminton.

Sports play a very important role in ones life. I think that there would not be a single person who has not played a single sport in their entire life. So in the initial stage of life which is childhood 'Sports' play a vital role, not only for physical development but in many attributes which help them in their life. Sports can be played either in a team format or individually similarly it can be played indoor and outdoor as well so both have their equal importance to it. Individual sports such as Shooting, Chess, Golf, Athletics, Swimming etc. and team sports such as Cricket, Football, Basketball etc. are played in India at international level.

So most of the parents today get confused while choosing a sport for their children or feel difficult to figure out which sport is suitable for their child. So to start with any sport, I would recommend gymnastics is the best sport to start. It is also called “Mother of all sports”. If the child is put into gymnastics at a very initial stage, it helps the child to form a good foundation for the other sports as well and gives clarity to the parents to choose a sport in future as each and every sport has their own requirements.

So sports have a very good impact on life such as it shapes their nature, develops and creates moral values. It also develops mental and physical toughness . Not just this it also gives opportunity to represent the nation and creates unique identity in the society which motivates the upcoming talents in the Country.

Today it is my pleasure to introduce to a sport in which India is holding World ranking 1, in both men’s and women’s category! It is the only sport which is winning maximum Olympic Quotas and it is the only game which has won the “Historical Individual Gold medal for India in 2008 Beijing Olympics (China)”. Yes you are right its “Shooting”.

Shooting is the game which can be played indoors as well as outdoors with respect to different events such as Pistol and Rifle which are played at various distances eg:- 10 meter(Indoor), 25 meter, 50 meter,

Any child can start the shooting from age of 9 or10. This game will help children to develop focus, concentration, critical thinking, decision making etc. This game also involves high mental toughness and physical endurance as well as alertness and calmness which is ultimately developed while playing this sport. One of the uniqueness of this game is that the player explores all the possibilities which are hidden within him/her which helps them not only to progress in the game but also inner self. If any child is suffering for impulsiveness or is hyper active, ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder), shooting is the best sport to deal with these problems in a better and fruitful way.

Being a Chief Coach in Shooting game at PTKS- Vile Parle Mumbai I come across many children who are having such symptoms, but within six months of shooting game training, players or children have shown a remarkable improvements.

So it is important to focus on the academics but definitely on sports as well. Academics opens the door for the financial earnings by getting a job. But Sports get you both by creating a social image in the society and earning financial status as well!
